Blackboard is the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. It provides a range of essential facilities for off-campus programme delivery. It is a worldwide web-based system, available only to registered students and staff of the University. It can be accessed via the Internet or via a PC connected to the University network. Familiarise yourself with all of the information that is posted on Blackboard and be sure to always review relevant learning materials as you commence a new Module of study.
You will find discussion boards on Blackboard, these are effectively ‘Blogs’ which give you the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow students thereby offering a substitute for the day-to-day interaction that an on-campus student is likely to have. Indeed, interaction with fellow students is encouraged and where possible collaboration through exchanges of research materials and/or sources is also encouraged as this is sure to add to the overall learning experience.
The library and associated resources can also be accessed via Blackboard and books can be ordered or renewed through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). If for any reason you are struggling to access Blackboard, please contact your tutor, our admin team or Programme Leader as soon as possible.
